
Colonel Florin-Vasile TOMIUC was appointed as Director of the NATO HUMINT Centre of Excellence in 5th of July 2017. Graduated from “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy, CBRN Branch, in 1996, colonel TOMIUC served until 2017 in different positions in Paratroopers and Recce Bn., HUMINT Bn., Military Intelligence School, and Military Intelligence Directorate. The officer holds an extensive national and NATO military education and training portfolio, completed by the Postgraduate Course of Romanian Diplomatic Institute, the Postgraduate Course in Conducting Intelligence Operations, the Leadership Course for Officers in Command Positions, and the Postgraduate Course for Strategic Leadership in Defence Intelligence. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree of “Lucian Blaga” University, Sibiu, Faculty of Sciences, Ecology and Environment Protection, and a Master’s Degree, in Communication and Public Relations, of SNSPA University, Bucharest. Colonel TOMIUC has broad experience in commanding positions and as Intelligence Staff Officer within NATO and coalition environments, at tactical and operational levels, with deployments in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kosovo. After his participation as National Representative to NATO HUMINT Working Group (NHWG) and NATO HUMINT Technology Working Group (NHTWG), from 2013 to 2017, colonel TOMIUC is currently appointed as Chairman of both groups. Colonel TOMIUC’s personal awards and decorations, among other distinctions, include “Non-Article 5 NATO ISAF Medal”, “Non-Article 5 KFOR Medal”, and “Non-Article 5 BALKANS Medal”.
