Host Region

Silesia – the power of diversity

The Silesian Voivodeship is one of the most interesting regions of the Central Europe. It is a place where the beauty of nature and the spirit of big cities mix in perfect proportions, where in harmony different traditions and human fates interweave.

Our roots reach out the industrial history of the region, which for many years was the main element of changes. Industrial traditions have strongly fitted into the Silesian identity, which is reminded by the unique monuments of the old industry that create highly unusual touristic product – the Industrial Monuments Route. The Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry is a part of it- the object that in 2017 was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Route is the most interesting trail of industrial tourism in Poland and one of the most interesting one in Europe.

The Silesian Voivodeship despite its high level of urbanisation is a very green region. In the heart of the agglomeration the Silesian Park is situated which is the biggest park in Europe. This green island located in the centre of the biggest Metropolis in Poland, is a place of recreation and leisure activities, but also it is a place of cultural, entertainment and sports events that are organized on the legendary Silesian Stadium.

Therefore, we invite You to Silesia, a place with a positive energy!

Host City

Katowice is one of the most dynamically developing cities in Poland. The capital of the Silesian province, inhabited by nearly 5 million people, and the first Polish Metropolis is very well-connected to Europe and the world. The young over 150-year-old city combines two images: the traditional one with its industrial heritage and the modern one-a creative and economically strong. Its central pillar is a high-tech sector, which is also visible in the entertainment industry (e.g. Intel Extreme Masters or competitive programming). Thanks to the realized and commenced investments, nowadays Katowice is the centre of an innovative region, frequently chosen to host such prestigious events as the UN Climate Summit, the World Urban Forum or the World Anti-Doping Conference.
